Acacia redolens 'Low Boy'
Low Boy Acacia
Description
Native to inland areas of Western Australia, this shrub is used extensively in Southern California and Arizona as a groundcover. A single plant can spread to 12' making it an economical choice. It has thick, gray-green evergreen phyllodes which can be chlorotic with too much water. During spring, small yellow puffballs smell of vanilla. Tolerates alkaline and slightly saline soils. In coastal situations, needs nearly no water. Low Boy is more prostrate than the parent plant and does not tend to pile up on top of itself.
