Corylus avellana 'Contorta'
Twisted Filbert
Description
Slowly growing up to 10'-15' wide, this deciduous shrub exhibits a distinctive branch structure that is gnarled and twisted, with a bit of a weeping habit. This shrub does best in full sun and is drought tolerant once it's established. It blooms yellow catkins in winter and early spring, causing quite a show. It looks great in containers. Foliage is rounded and bright green, and turns yellow in fall. This is a plant for all seasons.
