Basic Tri-Valley Watering Information

What Time of Day Should I Water?

Water plants at night between 2 AM and sunrise. Watering in midday when the weather is hot, dry, or windy can waste water due to excessive evaporation. Watering late in the day will keep the soil surface wet all night increasing the chances of soil-borne fungi damaging garden plants.

How Long Should I Water?

Generally, running an irrigation system on a lawn for more than five minutes will result in runoff. Precise watering times vary depending on the type of watering device, soil, slope and plants.
